Dr. Meleka, Medical Director of MPC (Meleka Psychiatric Care, LLC) is a graduate of the Harvard South Shore Psychiatry Residency Training Program, where she also became the Outpatient Chief Resident and Administrative Chief Resident. She is Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

During her residency, she trained and gained experience in various settings including the VA hospitals/clinics working and serving veterans who suffered from various psychiatric disorders, including PTSD. After graduation from residency, she embarked on a career in psychiatry working in different settings that helped to broaden her experience. Dr. Meleka worked in many areas of the field including in emergency psychiatry and in substance abuse/dependence, where she became a Medical Director of a 24 bed dual diagnosis unit. She also worked as a Staff Psychiatrist at the dual diagnosis section of the Partial Hospitalization Program in the same hospital. She then worked at a state hospital, which gave her exposure and experience with chronic mentally ill patients.

For the last few years, she had the opportunity to work as an Outpatient Psychiatrist serving clients from late adolescence /early adulthood to the geriatric population, with a great diversity of diagnosis including but not limited to: psychosis (prescribing Clozaril/ Clozapine), mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, substance abuse/dependence.

Over the course of her professional career, Dr. Meleka taught and supervised Boston University Medical Students during their Psychiatry Rotation and Harvard South Shore Psychiatry Residents in one of their rotations.

Prior to her Psychiatry Residency, Dr. Meleka was a family physician in Canada but decided to pursue career in Psychiatry due to her devotion to help the psychiatric and mentally ill, as she figured how mental illness impacts all aspects of clients’ lives even their physical health.

AT MPC, In addition to offering medication management (psychopharmacology), therapy is also incorporated into each session. However, clients can keep their current therapists or we can provide a referral list for therapists who collaborate with Dr. Meleka.
